  • Peaceful and relaxing atmosphere surrounded by nature

Worth knowing

About this property

Welcome to Hotel Casa Tortuga Tulum

Hotel Casa Tortuga Tulum is a 4.5-star resort hotel located along the Carretera Federal in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico. The property offers a tranquil, nature-oriented setting with access to several nearby cenotes, a zipline, and kayaking activities included for guests. Accommodation features modern rooms with kitchenettes in some units, air-conditioning, and complimentary Wi-Fi, contributing to a comfortable and practical stay. On-site amenities include an outdoor pool, a restaurant, and a bar, although dining options close relatively early, prompting some guests to bring their own food for evenings.

This resort is well suited for visitors focused on sightseeing and outdoor recreation, especially those interested in exploring the surrounding natural attractions such as the Tulum ruins, Two Eyes Cenote, and Xel-Há. Access to the park's cenotes and water activities adds value, particularly for families and groups seeking an active yet relaxed experience. However, transportation is necessary for extended stays or visits to town, as the property is somewhat removed from central Tulum and public transit options are limited. Guests often recommend renting a car to enhance mobility.

Feedback from travelers highlights the spacious, clean rooms and overall safety of the property despite ongoing construction visible during some stays. Some reviews mention the need for maintenance in certain areas, such as the front entrance and some budget rooms, providing a realistic view of the hotel's current state. While the restaurant's pricing is noted as somewhat high, the inclusion of park access in room rates adds to the overall appeal. The resort's family-friendly environment and access to natural attractions make it an attractive option for visitors looking to combine relaxation with nature-based activities.

Check-in begins at 15:00 and check-out is at 11:00. Free parking is available on-site, although the hotel is not pet-friendly and does not offer airport shuttle or fitness center services. With Cancun International Airport about an hour and 20 minutes away by car, the location provides a balance of seclusion and accessibility for travelers desiring a nature-focused stay within reach of major transport hubs.

We stayed for 3 days 2 nights, family of 5. If staying more than that you will need to rent a car, other than that you can get by by doing the local transit and the ADO. The room and everything was more than what we expected, to stay here you get entrance to the park, zipline and kayaking included. The room/suite was not what we were expecting exceeded our expectations. Ok, now they are still building and at first it does look sketchy but we felt safe. The hotel is on the grounds of the park, just off to the side and towards the back of the property. You can drive up to the hotel or walk. Their is no place to eat at night, and they let you know and suggest if you go into town bring food back for late night snacks. They have a fridge, microwave, coffee maker, plates, cups, knives, but no stove. We got the ADO from Tulum Airport to the city which in cash was $200 pesos each. The taxi we got lucky and he charged us $400 pesos from town to the hotel all the way inside. The colectivo aka the little bus, Charged us $175 pesos for 5 to the city. We would stay here again,, hope this helps.

Good place to stay at for a 3 day 2 night stay. We went as a gift for my son's 10th birthday. Did not have anything else planned but to enjoy a day at the water park. Day 1 Flight arrived around 1230pm. Took the ADO into the city 200mxn per person. Had lunch. Picked up some snacks at the grocery store, as we researched and found out everything closed early at the resort. Took a taxi 400mxn for like 15 min drive. Arrived around 4 to check in. Coffee shop on the corner was still open so we had dinner around 5 just to make sure we ate. Food was good but pricey. Headed back to the room and enjoyed the pool for the rest of the evening. Day 2 Woke up around 8 and headed to the water park around 9-10. 10-minute walk from the suites. Warning a lot of mosquitoes. Everyone starts with the tour, which we enjoyed, especially as we came to find out later in the day how packed it gets. Finished the tour around 12-1230. Did some zip lining before we hit the taco buffet, which we purchased an additional 250mxn per person. The food was decent. Did some kayaking and went back to the open Cenote to enjoy some more time, which is when we realized how much more packed it was in the afternoon, then early in the morning. Left around 4-5pm then headed to the city. Took a Colectivo (shuttle), which you can wave down on the main highway, 175mxn for 5. Had dinner in the city for less than 500mxn. Stopped again at the grocery store to pick up some breakfast items for the next day. Headed back around 830. Took a Colectivo back 175mxn. Day 3 Woke up early and had breakfast. Headed out around 9. Took a Colectivo to the center of town 175mxn again. Where we caught the ADO 200mxn per person to the airport 40 min drive. On going construction. More food options would be nice. Not really a good place to stay for more then 3 days 2 nights due to the distance from the city. Unless renting a car.

Beautiful condos that are reasonably priced and are located in the jungle. Included in the stay is access to 5 cenotes and a zipline. You must have a car if you are staying here as the onsite restaurants close at 5pm and it's a 10min drive to Tulum.
